Back from Botzum

Conrad Botzum Pomeranian Forebay Barn, Cuyahog...

Saturday, Cody, my mother and I visited Botzum Farmstead in Akron, Ohio. If you are looking for a site with character and sheer beauty, Botzum is for you. It has just about every outdoorsy element you could ask for: woods, water, grass, animals.

Looking out from the barn, there is a huge green lawn with a nice wooden fence running through it, a perfect backdrop for your any wedding photos. To the side of the barn, is a set of nice restrooms with easy access for your guests. On the other side, they have a really nice sized fire pit. It is a great addition to the barn and would be just another exciting feature for the wedding to have. The barn also has a covered deck attached to the front of it. Inside of the barn, it had rich dark wooden beams and huge wooden doors and windows. It is quite airy and really brings the outside in.

Cody and I absolutely loved the place. We have one more location to look at and then we should be able to make a decision. The only drawback for Botzum is our weather concern. Yes, it is technically inside, but the elements can still reach us. Also, the parking is all in a field. That could be worrisome for our older guest. We will have to think about it, but we are in love….again.

I am sure you are just dying to know what is this other mysterious location is. Well, you’re in luck because I will tell you. We are going to make a quick visit to see the brand new, Yellow Butterfly Winery. As they say on their website, “Ohio’s Newest Winery.” Well congrats; you won’t be able to use that tag line for long. We (mainly me) are every excited to see what is inside of that big yellow barn! They are opening in the beginning of May and they have already started to have requests for weddings. Well, maybe ours will be there too. You never know.

As you can tell, Cody and I are looking for a nice barn for our wedding. Let’s just get something straight. This wedding isn’t going to be a country wedding. We are thinking more vintage and earthy not cowboy boots.
